About photobook types
Classic photobooks
- Classic photobooks are made with chemical printing in a Noritsu photo lab, using only the best FUJI chemistry and photo paper. Today it is one of the best types of print, guaranteed to keep its quality for 100 years.
- Holds up to 60 spreads and opens 180 degrees. The gutter in the middle of the spread is almost invisible, so you can lay out the photobook freely and bring almost any creative idea to life. Photos placed across the whole spread look stunning.
- The pages of a classic photobook have a rigid core: they are firm yet flexible. For the core we use high-quality 0.5 mm plastic or board that doesn't warp over time. This makes the book fairly thick and heavy.
- A wooden cover and a mat on the first page are available only for the classic photobook
Digital print photobooks
- Holds up to 120 pages (60 spreads). You can fit all your happy moments into such a book and enjoy them for years.
- A digital print photobook has a noticeable gutter at the spine, so we recommend placing important elements in the middle of the spread with care.
- For printing we use high-quality uncoated XEROX Colotech+ paper, designed specifically for the XEROX equipment we print digital print books on.
- Laser digital printing differs somewhat from chemical printing, with its own characteristics in color reproduction and halftones.
- The pages of a digital print photobook are thin, more like the pages of a magazine or an ordinary book.

How do you decide which type of photobook suits you best? We can't say for sure that certain book types are more or less suitable for certain events. Mostly it is a matter of taste, your creative idea and your budget. For some, a classic photobook is more “prestigious”: it is heavier, thicker and uses a classic type of printing. But we don't rank books by status; we believe every type of book deserves attention.
From experience, classic photobooks are most often made as a family heirloom, for example for a wedding, as a baby's first photobook with a newborn shoot, or for a family photo session. Usually such books are built around a series of the best selected photos.
A digital print book, on the other hand, is usually made to tell a whole story. It might be a wedding where you don't want to miss a single detail, a travel story, a year of photos, or a family lifestyle shoot where you want to remember every moment.
In any case, if you are hesitating and have the chance to experiment, we recommend making two books of different types, leafing through them in person, and only then will you know which type of book suits you best and for what.
